What made you join Geosynthetics Ltd?

I had worked with Chris for 9 years at a previous company. When he contacted me about the possibility of joining him at Geosynthetics Limited I knew it was a fantastic opportunity for me and looking back it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

What three words would you use to describe yourself and why?

Determined, Ambitious and Fun. I love my job. I believe that maintaining a healthy and happy work life balance has contributed towards being successful throughout my career.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I enjoy coaching and mentoring my team every day. I love helping team members to grow and seeing them develop. Over the last couple of years, the business has been in a position for me to give some of my time to our local community and schools. Seeing how all the hard work over the past 21 years has now allowed us to give back makes my heart happy.

What’s your favourite film?

My two stand out films would be ‘Pretty Women’ and ‘Dirty Dancing’, but in all honesty, I enjoy all types of films except horrors. The most recent films I’ve seen are ‘A Star is Born’ and ‘Venom’ both were great. A mix of chalk and cheese but who can resist someone as charming as Tom Hardy.

When not in the office what do you enjoy doing?

I am a very sociable person and outside of my family commitments I enjoy going out with friends and eating out, to balance this means regular gym sessions. I enjoy attending Mallory Park and watch some of my friends race motorbikes. I also try to attend live music and concerts as much as possible and recently I have been to see; Nikki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Madonna. Travelling is also a major passion of mine, my son turned 21 last year so we travelled to Las Vegas to celebrate, it was unbelievable. I have another holiday booked this year to Cape Verde and plans for many more in the future.

What upcoming event are you most looking forward to?

It is our Operations Managers wedding this year, we decided to celebrate this the unconventional way by climbing Mount Snowdon. Although I am aware it will be a challenge, I am looking forward to the many laughs and the feeling of accomplishment when we complete the climb.

What is your highlight of working at Geosynthetics Ltd?

I have had many highlights within my time at Geo, the main one would definitely be meeting and working with some amazing people. An old friend, Guy Duncombe once taught me “Every days a Birthday”. Whilst he is sadly no longer with us this is something I have always kept in mind and has changed how I view my work life balance in such a high-pressured role.  Another would be how Geosynthetics gave me the opportunity to progress my career and the benefits this has bought to my family.

Finally, and more recently being on Central News in 2018 was an excellent experience and truly shows you can be put out of your comfort zone at any stage of your career.
