Get your gardens summer ready this spring with our DIY geotextiles for all your garden projects needs
When preparing for these projects, two focuses are at the forefront of your mind 1. Cost and 2. Longevity. When redesigning and landscaping your garden space long lasting results is a must. Geosynthetics Ltd have the perfect solution for this with our geotextile fabrics which will ensure long term stability and suppress weed growth.
Why use Geotextile fabrics for your garden project?
- It is cost effective – Geosynthetics landscape geotextiles are made of high-quality fabric, that is strong and durable making it a more cost-effective choice over other long term weed suppression products.
- It aids ground stability – Geotextile fabric such as Ekotex® Non-Woven will add stability to the ground, and enhance filtration and drainage. The Ekotex geotextile will help prevent the surface sinking and rutting caused by aggregate settling into the soil beneath the drive or pathway.
- Suppresses weed growth – Our 2 in 1 weed suppression fabric is an excellent tool for suppressing weed growth in your garden. Being black and UV stable our 2 in 1 creates more shade beneath it, helping to prevent the weeds from getting access to the light they need to thrive.
- Environmentally friendly – Chemical weed killers often have to be used repeatedly which can cause harm to the surrounding environment. However, weed suppression geotextiles are a long-term solution making them a more environmentally friendly option.
All of the above are great points as to why you should be using Geotextile fabrics in your garden. However, there are also a lot of myths surrounding geotextile fabrics and below we break down the fact from the fiction.
- “Weeds still grow” – We can’t’ guarantee that alone our 2 in 1 weed suppression fabric can prevent weeds from growing completely which is why it is called a suppression fabric. Landscaping fabrics do an excellent job of suppressing weed growth, however, they won’t completely eradicate the problem due to inevitable factors such as seeds being blown or dropped on the surface of the fabric.
- “They take too long to install” – It may take slightly longer to lay a geotextile correctly than using chemical weed killers. However, a weed suppression fabric will save time in the long run as there will be no need to repeatedly tackle unwanted weed growth or repair destabilisation to the surface.
- “Geotextile fabrics are easily damaged” – Almost anything can be damaged if it is not handled correctly. Garden tools, such as shovels or forks could damage the fabric and reduce its effectiveness. However, take a little care and attention and this won’t be a problem. We recommend using our geotextile fabrics in applications such as under decking, in flower beds and beneath driveways where they are relatively undisturbed.
- “They don’t work” – When a geotextile fabric fails to achieve the desired results it is often due to selecting the wrong fabric. Geosynthetics Ltd offer a brilliant range of DIY geotextiles for a variety of applications. Geosynthetics Ltd can guarantee results every time when using the correct geotextile installed correctly.
