Donations Protect National Trust Ancient Tree
We donated our Cellweb TRP system and the services of the Tree Root Protection Team to ensure that the ‘Old Man of Calke’ survives, the ancient oak tree at the National Trust site Calke Abbey is thought to be up to 1200 years old making it one of the oldest oaks in Britain today.
Due to poor soil conditions and heavy foot fall the tree was beginning to die off on one side. Our Cellweb TRP system will help prevent further compaction and woodchip will encourage the soil decomposition.
The project installed by the tree experts was completed in one day hopefully ensuring that the tree will survive for years to come.
We would like to thank the National Trust’s Ancient Tree Advisor Brian Muelaner and the Head Ranger Bill Cove for their help and support during design and installation of this project.
