Monday Throwback – Ekotex® Case Study
Monday Throwback!
We’ve been having a look back through some of the previous projects we’ve supplied in the last few years.
One project that stands out to us is the Sence Valley Centenary Woodland where we supplied Ekotex® 10 for an area which was going to be used as a footpath.
Read the case study below…
To celebrate 100 years of the Forestry Commission, in 2018 Forestry England bought a further 48 hectares (102 acres) of the original opencast which will be planted as a sustainable forest for the future.
However, being a former opencast site, ground conditions were extremely poor, and coupled with the wettest autumn on record, surface water run off was substantial. Due to this, Clixbys contacted Geosynthetics Ltd. After viewing the site Ekotex® 10 was supplied because of its separation properties. Clixbys had to double handle the aggregate into low ground pressure hydrema dumpers, laying 450mm of sub base over the Ekotex® Geotextile, before spreading 100 mm of Granite MOT Type 1 with their Domor RC600 aggregate box and dozer.
Despite multiple passes the Ekotex® 10 performed tremendously well, with no contamination of the sub base stone and formation.
The area will be used as a footpath to give visitors an opportunity to explore the newly created forest.
