Fundraiser Update
Geosynthetics Ltd raises £5000 for Doorway and Lawrence House
On the 2nd November 2018 Geosynthetics Ltd and Stormwater Management Ltd, held our Annual Fundraiser in aid of Doorway and Lawrence House. We have been raising money and awareness for a different charity close to the hearts of employees at the Hinckley head offices each year for the last 10 years, and this year both Doorway and Lawrence House were selected by the team. Doorway and Lawrence House provide vital work in the local area and all of our team are proud to be able to support them.
Doorway provide housing advice, support and life skills development to vulnerable homeless young people aged 16-25 in Warwickshire. Doorway offer a range of services to assist and support young homeless people, these services include; an advice service, a support service, a development service and a landlord scheme. On average 9 out of 10 young people move on from Doorway services to live successful independent lives.
Lawrence House is a supported accommodation project for homeless young people in the Hinckley & Bosworth area of Leicestershire. They provide accommodation for 12 people between the ages of 16 and 25. A key worker system is operated, which offers young people living there the support in all areas of their lives, such as benefits, budgeting, life skills, family relationships and career choices. In addition to this, there is always a member of staff on duty and available to give support and advice or just to listen.
The successful event saw Geosynthetics and Stormwater employees follow the theme of ‘Services’. This year’s event was very successful, with a mixture of costumes designed which included sailors, prison wardens, surgeons and mechanics to name just a few. Throughout the day the team took part in a number of games, quizzes and a mixture of service themed challenges which incorporated the ‘Guess the famous face’, ‘Stop, drop and roll’ and ‘Cops and robbers’.
With the help and support from a number of local businesses and suppliers, the team can announce that they raised a staggering £2,500 this year which Geosynthetics Ltd Chairman, Chris Foxton kindly doubled to £5,000.
We would like to once again thank local businesses and our suppliers for the donations and support for our fundraiser. This help is invaluable in making this day such a success.
